A VIBRANT, ACTIVE COMMUNITY
From Social Action to social gatherings, there’s always something going on in the Beth Am Temple community.
SISTERHOOD
The mission of Beth Am Temple’s Sisterhood is to bring together the
women of our congregation to serve our synagogue, support our community
and enrich our lives through personal growth and friendship.
We accomplish our mission through social and educational programs, and
fundraising. Our activities, enhanced by the richness of our diversity, further
our commitment to Jewish ideals, education, spirituality, and leadership
development.
We schedule activities for Sisterhood Members, for their
families and for the whole congregation.
MEN’S CLUB
The Men's Club provides an opportunity for the men in our temple to experience the bond of brotherhood and participate in activities dedicated to enrich our Temple family. The Men's Club provides an opportunity to expand our circle of friends with other "bro's" to provide a support network for each other.
The Men's Club, is an "arm" of the temple, which enables us to fulfill our interest and willingness to serve our temple family by volunteering available time and effort to help the temple in whatever way we can. We take pride in our participating and "giving something back" to our Temple to foster Reform Judaism in our community.
SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE
Our Social Action committee is one of the largest and most active in our congregation. Committed to mitzvot which improve the community, we have focused on aiding immigrants and others lacking sufficient food and clothing. Social Action meets monthly to discuss new ways to focus on the Jewish ideal of being "a light unto the nations."
Social Action is also very involved with the newly-formed RISA (Rockland Interfaith Social Action) Network. We hold Social Action Shabbat services and welcome new members to assist us in performing more mitzvot for the benefit of the community.
HAVARAH
Havarah is a new group at Beth Am Temple. It is for active single seniors.
We have plans to go to dinner, take day trips, see shows and movies, play
miniature golf etc. We are hoping to reach out to other temples and unaffiliated Jews to join us.
Our first event was May 3. We had dinner at Bellisimo’s Restaurant and then
attended Friday night services together.
