ABOUT OUR CZECH TORAH

Czech Holocaust Torah2.JPG

In keeping with the provisions of the loan of our Torah, Beth Am Temple would like to share with you the details of its origin from Memorial Scrolls Trust.

An excerpt from Memorial Scrolls Trust: Jews have lived in Bohemia and Moravia for more than a thousand years, and over that time a rich Jewish culture developed.  As in most European countries, those Jewish communities were alternatively welcomed and expelled over the centuries and life was precarious. By the middle of the 19th Century they no longer suffered from residential, demographic or occupational restrictions. Read more at the website for Memorial Scrolls Trust.  Under Our Story click on Bohemia and Moravia.

Please note:  The webpage for Memorial Scrolls Trust has not been functioning properly so the link has been deactivated. Memorial Scrolls Trust is the Organization that sponsors our Torah.

Here is an excerpt from the Service introducing the new Holocaust Torah.  Rabbi Dan tells the story of how the Torah came to Beth Am Temple.
